Marshall Lee Portivent, Jr.
Founder & Senior Lawyer
Welcome to the Portivent Lawfirm
Marshall was born to working class folks in a small town in South Georgia. Prior to becoming an attorney, Marshall worked at a meat market, in lawn care, as a finish carpenter, and an over-the-road, long haul truck driver where he travelled all over the U.S.
While in college, Marshall interned at the Lowndes County Public Defender’s office and worked for solo practitioner James G. (Jim) Tunison, Jr., who later became a Superior Court Judge in Georgia’s Southern Judicial District. While in law school at Mercer University, Marshall worked for Macon-Bibb County Superior Court Judge Tilman E. (Tripp) Self, who is now a Federal U.S. District Court Judge in Georgia’s Middle District. Marshall had a paid clerkship between his 2nd and 3rd year at Mercer Law School working at a highly respected personal injury and workers’ compensation law firm, which is where he discovered that he wanted to spend his career helping injured folks.
After working for 3 ½ years in South Georgia at a very reputable law firm where he practiced in the Litigation Department, Marshall and his wife moved to the Atlanta area, to be closer to her family. For the first 2 years in Atlanta, Marshall worked at another very reputable law firm in their Workers’ Compensation Defense Department, where he represented employers and their workers’ compensation insurance companies. For the last 7+ years, Marshall represented injured folks all across the Southeastern United States.

Why Choose Us
We Are Effective In Areas Of Practices
Having worked for big corporations, insurance companies, and now for injured folks, Marshall has a distinctive insight into how companies work and, more importantly, how they value injury cases. Additionally, having attended “formal” schools and universities, as well as “the school of hard knocks” in the real world, Marshall has a unique perspective on what it is like for real, hard-working folks to have their job compromised when they get hurt, through no fault of their own. Folks who are not used to and do not like asking others for help. This is not just a job to Marshall – this is his calling.
